Sony has released a new update for PlayStation 5 that simplifies the process of inviting friends and others to play multiplayer games. announced. This new feature eliminates the need to publicly exchange codes or privately message PSN IDs, allowing players to access the game regardless of whether they own a PS5 or not. Whether or not they have friends on PlayStation Network, they can create an invitation link in the app that others can click to join the session. Clicking the link will connect the recipient directly to the multiplayer lobby or match, allowing everyone to start playing together immediately. Sony says most PS5 games will be compatible with this feature through updates. In addition to sharing links, players will also be sent invitations via a generated QR code for easy scanning.

Although most PS5 games will support this new invitation system, Sony states that some games may require updates to fully integrate this feature.

Sony also shared that it is working with Discord to create a custom tool. To avoid waiting in empty lobbies, when invite links are published in the chat platform, the tool dynamically updates to show whether the multiplayer session is active or empty.
