Microsoft has long been moving away from using old-fashioned passwords to log in to its services. It introduced technologies such as Windows Hello, Microsoft Authenticator, FIDO2 security keys to enable people to come up with strong passwords. Today, the company announced its new goal for this day within the scope of World Password Day.
All Microsoft consumer accounts now support the use of passkeys, Microsoft announced in a post on its security blog today. This support will include signing in to your Microsoft account on Windows, Google and Apple platforms. This may use biometric methods such as your face or fingerprint, or a device PIN.

You can now use passkeys to sign in to your Microsoft account across desktop and mobile browsers, including services like Microsoft 365 and Copilot. Passkey login support for Microsoft’s mobile apps will be added in the coming weeks, the company said.
