Winamp, one of the first MP3 players in the digital world, was realized physically rather than on a computer. Linamp’s design, which is the real-life incarnation of Winamp, combines the classic user interface with home audio systems used in older times.
The nostalgic Linamp system is supported by a Raspberry Pi 4B with a 32 GB SD card. The display is powered by Dietpi with a custom Qt 6 application written in C++ with Qt widgets. To bring Winamp to life as a physical object, Rodmg designed the chassis to be constructed from sheet metal. His source of inspiration was an Aiwa stereo that he grew up with and still owns. Nostalgic engineer Aiwa took the radio apart, photographed it, made measurements, and then used them as inspiration for the design.
