X announced that it will soon stop showing the public likes tab on users’ profile pages. The feature was first spotted by MacRumors writer Aaron Perris in the X app for iOS, and has now been validated by X engineers.

X Engineering Manager Haofei Wang commented on Perris’ post: “Yes, we make likes special. Public likes encourage misbehavior. For example, many people stop liking content that might be “daring” for fear of retaliation from trolls or to protect their public image.†replied.

Wang added, “Soon you will be able to enjoy it without worrying about who can see it. “Also, I would like to remind you that the more posts you like, the better your special algorithm will be,” he said.

By the way, users can see who liked their posts and all posts, replies, etc. It is stated that you can still see the number of likes for . The change includes hiding which posts other people have liked. This means removing the Likes tab in public profiles.
