For now, the feature works at a basic level, but the company plans to add support for end-to-end encryption as well as media and group messaging later.
Until then, the company says it will be able to access users’ messages in some cases when “absolutely necessary,” such as for spam or harassment investigations. “In rare cases, the Bluesky moderation team may need to open your DMs to investigate broader patterns of abuse, such as spam or coordinated harassment,” Bluesky says in a blog post.
