iOS 18 Face ID App Locking

It is said that with iOS 18, users will have the option to lock applications using Face ID. MacRumorsAccording to the news, this new security feature gives users an extra benefit by giving them the option to lock built-in iPhone applications such as Mail, Messages, Notes, Phone, Photos, Safari, Settings and more. It will provide a layer of privacy and security.

Unlocking a locked app will require Face ID authentication, and it seems likely that this feature will also work with Touch ID or the iPhone’s passcode. It is currently unclear whether the feature will work with third-party applications on the App Store.

Currently, Apple already allows certain content, such as notes in the Notes app and photos in “Recently Deleted” and “Hidden” albums in the Photos app, to be locked behind Face ID, Touch ID, or a passcode. The new security feature will further expand this capability.

Apple will announce all the details about iOS 18 at the WWDC 2024 developer event on June 10.
