Apple may be among the companies looking to contract with Photobucket to train artificial intelligence models. ReutersAccording to the news, Photobucket has a large image library consisting of more than 13 billion photos and videos.

It has begun to attract renewed attention due to technology companies, including Apple, seeking to license content for artificial intelligence education. The rise of generative AI has increased the demand for diverse data sets, and companies like Photobucket can also provide large amounts of visual data that can train AI to produce content in response to text commands.

As a reminder, Apple reached an agreement with Shutterstock to license millions of images shortly after the launch of its ChatGPT AI chatbot in late 2022, in a deal believed to be worth $25-50 million.

Apple is expected to showcase many artificial intelligence features along with iOS 18 and other important software updates at the WWDC 2024 event in June.
