Netflix Lays Off Some Employees for Reorganization in Film Department
Netflix will reportedly lay off 15 employees due to restructuring in its film division. According to Deadline’s report, this new structure aims to better focus the company’s film content according to genre.
Netflix movies will now be divided into four categories, each with its own dedicated manager. 4 different managers, each in a different category, will supervise the films made in their own categories.
The restructuring also brings with it some personnel changes, as approximately 15 people in the film department will be laid off. This is what Netflix is calling a major restructuring of the organization. Thus, each type of division will have dedicated development, production and marketing teams that will report to separate executives.
This move aims to provide clearer focus and accountability for each film genre. The company hopes that by separating genres, managers can better target specific audiences and find synergies between projects. For this reason, it looks like we may see better content over time.
