Battlefield developer DICE released the 7th season update for Battlefield 2042 last March. However, it seems that there will be no new season update for Battlefield 2042 after the Turning Point season update.
Byron Beede, general manager of the series, stated in a post on the Battlefield site that the game will continue to be updated with new in-game challenges, patches, modes and events. However, he added that major content updates featuring new maps, weapons and vehicles have ended.
In February, the company announced mass layoffs amounting to 5 percent of its total workforce. However, it also closed down Ridgeline, a newly formed development studio in Seattle that was expected to create new single-player games in the Battlefield series.
Despite the studio’s closure, EA Games stated at the time that this series had the largest team ever. Beede stated that they do not know how successful EA’s new work on Battlefield will be in the future.
