Game Boy Emulator iGBA Arrives on App Store

Following Apple’s relaxation of its App Store policy allowing retro game emulators to be published, iGBA, a free Game Boy emulator, App StoreIt was the first emulator available for iPhone and iPad.

iGBA Game Boy emulator allows you to download game ROMs from the web (from any source you want), install them on the emulator and play. As you know, although Apple allowed game emulators to be published in the App Store, it did not allow ROMs to be downloaded from outside and used in emulators. iGBA developer is certainly taking fair advantage of this rule change and allowing users to download and enjoy game ROMs. iGBA, in particular, is based on the GBA4iOS open source project but is unfortunately full of built-in ads.

iGBA does a good job emulating Game Boy games. You can download the Game Boy Advance or Game Boy Color ROM from any source you want, then install it on the iGBA to play it. A full-featured emulator with features like iGBA save states, virtual controller customization, haptic settings, and AirPlay external display projection.

On the other hand, Henrik Rydgård, the creator of the popular emulator PPSSPP, shared that he postponed the emulator’s release on the App Store towards the end of this year.
