Samsung’s voice assistant Bixby was introduced at the launch of the Galaxy S8 series in 2017. The assistant, which has since fallen behind Google Assistant and Apple’s Siri, will now be strengthened with productive artificial intelligence features.

The information in question emerged in an interview given by a senior executive of Samsung.

“Samsung wants to supercharge Bixby with generative AI features, and I can’t wait for it to come out.”

Won-joon Choi, vice president of Samsung’s mobile business unit. In an interview with CNBC He talked about how Samsung wants to bring generative AI to Bixby and said it’s not too far away;

“With the emergence of generative AI and LLM (large language model) technology, I believe we need to redefine the role of Bixby so that it can be equipped with Generative AI and become smarter in the future.”

Choi did not share any information about what capabilities Bixby will have after adding generative artificial intelligence features, but we can say that the assistant will now be much better and more intuitive.

Samsung and Google Cloud Join Forces for Generative AI

Samsung and Google reached an agreement last January and announced that they were joining forces to develop productive artificial intelligence features that will be offered to the Galaxy product family.

The companies will collaborate to bring Google Cloud’s Generative AI technologies to Samsung smartphone users around the world.

As part of the collaboration, Samsung became one of the first companies to test Gemini Ultra, Google’s most capable and comprehensive model developed for use in highly complex tasks. Devices with One UI 6.1 and Android 14 operating system will also use the internal LLM (Large Language Model) Gemini Nano. Gemini Nano stands out as the most efficient model developed by Gemini for on-device tasks.
