5.5G has become one of the new trending technologies in China these days, with Oppo, Xiaomi and Vivo announcing support for this technology for their flagship devices last week. Today, Honor announced that the Magic 6 series will support 5.5G with a software update when 5.5G networks are active.
As the name suggests, this technology is still 5G-based and its features have not been finalized yet. However, in China, there are advertisements promising data speeds of 10Gbps for downloads and 1Gbps for uploads.
At the hardware level, any device with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 or Dimensity 9300 should be able to support 5.5G, but of course it’s ultimately up to the manufacturer to enable it. So what do you think about 5.5G technology?
