Details for the PS5 version of the Sea of Thieves game, which will be released by Rare on April 30 announced.

Rare has confirmed that cross-play and cross-progression support between PlayStation and Xbox will be available from launch. Additionally, cross-play can be disabled by players. Additionally, cross-play may be limited to only allowing controller users. Moving forward, any pirate characters that players may have previously created will be synced to the PS5, including “Tributes, cosmetics, Twitch Drops, and accumulated gold, Doubloons, and Ancient Coins” when linking PlayStation and Microsoft accounts. On the other hand, some platform-specific cosmetic items, such as the Duke set on Xbox, will not be transferred.

Sea of Thieves on PS5 will display both the Xbox and PSN Friends lists when inviting friends, making it easy to invite or join a party with cross-play enabled. On the online side, we should also underline that PlayStation Plus will be required for Sea of Thieves. Safer Seas solo mode will also be accessible to those who do not have a subscription.

As with Xbox Series X|S, Sea of Thieves will offer 4K 60FPS or 1080p 120FPS game modes on PS5. More than 250 Trophies are also included in the game, reflecting Xbox and Steam achievements, and some progress that syncs existing players’ accounts will also be carried over.

The hardware capabilities of the PS5 DualSense controller are also integrated into the game. In this sense, haptic feedback and adaptive triggers can be used to provide a more immersive gaming experience.
