Analyst firm IDC says the global computer (PC) market is finally returning to growth with 59.8 million shipments in the first quarter of 2024. explained. The recorded growth is determined as 1.5% on an annual basis, and in this sense, growth has been recorded for the first time in years.

In the first quarter of 2023, the market fell 28.7% year-on-year, reaching the lowest point in PC history. In addition to returning to growth this year, IDC states that volumes have finally returned to pre-pandemic levels. For comparison, 60.5 million PCs were shipped in the first quarter of 2019.

It is stated that as inflation decreased in most parts of the world, PC shipments began to recover as a result, but IDC says that deflationary pressures in China affected the global PC market and demand for desktop computers in China was weak, so demand for PCs decreased for another quarter.

IDC also shared data on which OEMs are performing best. Lenovo ranks first with 23% market share, followed by HP with 20.1% market share. Dell came in third with 15.5% market share, followed by Apple with 8.1% market share. Finally, Asus ranked fifth with 6.1% market share.
