Google Off Device Tracking Android

Google recently announced its renewed Find My Device service to make it easier for people to find lost Android devices. For those with a Pixel 8 or Pixel 8 Pro device, the feature can allow you to find your lost device even if the device is turned off or its battery is dead. Finally, Google confirmed that the closed device tracking function will come to other Android phones as well.

A Google representative said, Android AuthorityHe told , the company is working with other device makers to figure out how to find “additional premium Android devices” with dead batteries. The functionality may even come to more affordable devices in the future.

Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro come equipped with special hardware that can power Bluetooth chips even if the device’s battery is dead or turned off. On the other hand, it is stated that many Android devices currently on the market cannot communicate with each other via Bluetooth when turned off.

Although manufacturers may add hardware support for future devices, it is currently unclear whether current flagships such as the Samsung Galaxy S24 will support closed tracking via the Find My Device network.

To use Google’s new Find My Device network and related features, you need to have Android 9 or later on your phone. The feature can also be used to find network tracking tags, compatible accessories, and headphones from brands like JBL, Sony, and more.
