Instagram Nude Photo Precaution

Instagram will launch a new feature that will detect and blur obscene content announced. This feature is on by default for teens, and will be an option for adults.

One of the main new features is nudity protection in Direct Messages (DMs). Thus, users will not have to see unwanted images from acquaintances or strangers. Meta said it will soon begin testing the new nudity protection feature in Instagram DMs. The tool aims to detect and blur images containing nudity. She also wants people to think twice before sending nude images as they could be exploited by bad actors.

The company says the feature aims to protect people from unwanted nude images, but will also protect against scammers who try to trick people into sending their own images in return. As we mentioned at the beginning, this new feature will be enabled by default for young people under the age of 18 worldwide, and adults will also receive a notification encouraging them to turn on this feature.

The feature will warn you to be careful when sharing sensitive photos and explain that others may screenshot or forward your photos without your knowledge. Additionally, it will also let you know that you can unsend a photo if you change your mind, but there’s a chance others may have seen it before.

Meta will also warn people who try to share nude photos to reconsider their actions, and will warn that sharing sensitive photos of someone may violate Community Guidelines or be illegal.

Finally, Meta said that the accounts of known sex blackmailers were banned. If a user has engaged with one of these sextortion accounts, they will receive a pop-up message with links to expert-backed resources if they need support. The company has also shared that it will be sending more sextortion-specific signals through its Lantern program, which sees tech companies collaborating to thwart cross-platform criminal activity.
