Turn off VPN by Google

It seems like the end of the road for VPN by Google, which was offered by Google as part of the Google One cloud storage service in October 2020. The service offered users a simple way to encrypt their internet data and was available to subscribers who paid for plans that included 2TB of cloud storage and above. 9to5Googlereported that Google One subscribers received an email from Google One this week informing them that the VPN would be shutting down later this year.

The email sent to Google One users did not provide a specific reason for turning off the VPN feature, but according to a company spokesperson told 9to5Google, it is being turned off because the team “found that people were not using it.” Removing the feature will allow the team to “support more in-demand features with Google One,” the statement said.

On the other hand, owners of Google’s Pixel 7 and above smartphones will still be able to use the built-in Google VPN service for free. Google will also continue to offer a VPN feature for subscribers of its Google Fi wireless service.

By the way, let us remind you that Google will offer free access to artificial intelligence-based features for its Photos service as of May 15.
