Adobe is rolling out an experimental audio AI tool to combine its image-based tools in Photoshop revealed. Described by the company as an “early-stage generative AI music creation and editing tool,” Adobe Project Music GenAI Control can create music (and other sounds) from text commands and fine-tune them later in the same interface.

Adobe goes one step further, framing the Firefly-based technology as a creative ally that, unlike generative audio experiments like Google MusicLM, eliminates the hassle of porting output to external applications like Pro Tools, Logic Pro, or GarageBand for editing.

“Instead of manually cutting existing music to create intros, outros, and background audio, Project Music GenAI Control can help users create exactly the tracks they need and solve end-to-end workflow pain points,” Adobe states in its blog post.

The company basically suggests starting with text entries like “powerful rock,” “happy dance,” or “sad jazz.” From here you can enter more commands to adjust tempo, structure and repetition, increase intensity, extend length, remix entire sections or create loops. The company says it can even transform audio based on the reference melody.

Adobe states that the resulting music is safe for commercial use. Additionally, it integrates Content Credentials for transparency about the AI-powered nature of your masterpiece.

Adobe underlines that Project Music GenAI Control is experimental for now. Therefore, it will take more time for the feature to arrive in the Adobe Creative Cloud suite.
