iPhone Models That Will Not Support Some iOS 18 Artificial Intelligence Features Revealed
Apple is planning a major artificial intelligence revision for the iOS 18 mobile operating system, but some new features are not expected to be compatible with older iPhone models. It is said that the company’s first artificial intelligence roadmap for iOS 18 consists of two parts. These will be basic AI features that will be processed on the device, and more advanced capabilities that will require communication with Apple’s servers.

At the center of these features is the redesigned Siri. To this end, Apple engineers had to redesign the core software of “Siri” using large language models (LLMs), the algorithm that forms the basis of productive artificial intelligence.
Apple’s own LLM is expected to handle basic AI tasks, and this will be entirely on-device. In other words, the model is powered by the iPhone’s processor rather than the cloud.
