Doom: The Dark Ages, which was released by id Software this time at the Xbox Games Showcase event, revealed a completely different environment for Doom. announced. In a post on the Bethesda site, it was explained that Doom: The Dark Ages is set in a dark medieval setting rather than the sci-fi future setting of previous games in the series.

The trailer for the game shows off some of the enemies Doom Guy will have to face in this game. Some of their new weapons also make their first appearance, including the throwable Shield Saw. Doom Guy will also be able to wield the game’s Mecha Dragon and the massive mech-like Atlan, designed to take on similarly sized demons with its massive fists.

The game’s website also states: “Inspired by the original Doom (1993), The Dark Ages will engage players in tough, heavy-hitting combat featuring destructible demons, brutal melee attacks, and more. Play as the Slayer, strike the right balance between ranged bombardment and aggressive melee combat, and watch the armies of Hell tremble in fear.”

Doom: The Dark Ages will be a single-player game and will be released for PC, Xbox and PlayStation 5 platforms in 2025. Even Xbox Game Pass owners will be able to access the game from day one.
