Disney+ Password Sharing

The Walt Disney Company has long been warning users that it wants to reduce password sharing for its Disney+ streaming service. Finally, Disney CEO Bob Iger made important statements about when this move will happen.

A new one with CNBC in the interview Disney CEO Bob Iger said: “We will be launching our first real push into password sharing in June… Only a few countries and a few markets, but it will then grow significantly with full rollout in September.”

Iger underlines that trying to reduce the amount of password sharing will be one way to turn Disney’s streaming services into profitable businesses. The markets that will be first affected by this change have not been detailed yet.

On the other hand, Netflix launched a program to cut password sharing on its service in the USA in May 2023, by forcing people who do not live in the same house but use someone else’s account to pay $ 7.99 per month, and this was effective in increasing the number of Netflix subscribers.
