Google announced Magic Editor, a new artificial intelligence-based photo editing tool, in May 2023. Now, Google Photos has announced that it will offer Magic Editor and other artificial intelligence-based editing tools to more users.

This in support post Google stated that starting May 15, it will open Magic Editor functionality in Google Photos to more Android, Chromebook, and iOS owners who meet the following requirements: “Your device must be a Chromebook Plus with ChromeOS 118+ or have at least 3 GB of RAM and Android 8.0/ Must have iOS 15 or newer.”

Magic Editor allows users to use some pretty great photo editing tools with generative AI support. It is stated that people who do not have the latest Pixel phones will be limited to 10 free uses each month. For more, you’ll need to buy a new Pixel phone or pay for a Google One plan with 2TB or more of cloud storage.

Google will also make more features for Google Photos available to more people for free on May 15:

  • Magic Eraser
  • remove blur
  • sky suggestions
  • burst of color
  • HDR effect for photos and videos
  • portrait blur
  • portrait light
  • Add light/Light balance properties to the Portrait light tool
  • cinematic photos
  • Styles in the collage editor
  • video effects

It is shared that it may take a few weeks for all these new features to reach all supported Android and iOS devices.
