Meta begins limited Meta AI testing for WhatsApp in different countries. WABetaInfoAfter an initial phase of limited testing in the US, Meta is now expanding another round of limited testing for its Meta AI-powered chatbot on WhatsApp to various countries, reports . This test is valid for those who installed the latest updates of WhatsApp for iOS from the App Store and WhatsApp for Android from the Google Play Store.

In the WhatsApp beta Android 2.24.7.14 update, it was noticed that the platform was working on a feature to easily ask questions to Meta AI through the search bar. This feature is designed to integrate suggestions and prompts to facilitate user interaction with Meta AI directly from the search interface. This will also improve the process of accessing AI-powered help, eliminating the need for users to manually go to the Meta AI chat to enter prompts.

The company is currently in the process of rolling out Meta AI integration to the search bar for select users in certain countries whose apps are set to English. Conversely, select users in India now have the opportunity to explore an alternative entry point conveniently located in the top app bar to easily access the Meta chatbot. These are described as two different testing approaches aimed at assessing user engagement and preferences regarding Meta AI accessibility, allowing WhatsApp to collect comprehensive feedback and optimize the Meta AI experience.

We should also point out that this integration works regardless of the privacy of private conversations within WhatsApp. What users type in the search bar will always remain private and will not be shared with Meta AI unless a prompt is intentionally sent to the Meta AI chatbot.
