Google released the developer preview of Wear OS 5 based on Android 14. It is not possible for everyone to be designed only by developers, as they are not exacerbated to everyone.
Google is focusing on continuing to improve battery life, which has been the main pain point for all smartwatches using Wear OS 5. The company states that tracking a run in the new version will consume 20% less power than Wear OS 4. Additionally, starting from early 2025, all new watch faces published on Google Play will have to use the Watch Face Format.
Existing sites using other libraries will be able to receive updates without switching to the new format. With Wear OS 5, Google is releasing new guidelines on how to create responsive user interfaces for different watch screen sizes and also introducing adaptable layouts and widgets.
