A new Passwords application may be released by Apple for iOS 18, iPadOS 18 and macOS 15. BloombergMark Gurman from , says that the company will thus offer a serious alternative to third-party applications such as 1Password and LastPass. The Passwords app will provide a simpler way for iPhone, iPad and Mac users to access their saved login information.

Although Apple already has a built-in Passwords feature in its operating systems, it may not appeal to everyone because it is hidden in the Settings application and therefore difficult to find. The company has slowly introduced new password features, such as storing logins and passwords, supporting single-use login codes, and offering password creation options directly in Safari. tiring.

The Passwords app will be built on top of Apple’s iCloud Keychain, a feature that can sync login and password details across Apple devices. All features supported by Passwords in Settings will be supported and will also work on Vision Pro and Windows PCs.

The app includes logins and passwords for websites, Wi-Fi network passwords, and Passthrough, a feature that uses Face ID or Touch ID to sign in to websites instead of a password. It will contain your keys. When a user logs in, data from the application will be automatically added to websites and applications.

Apple may announce the Passwords app during the WWDC 2024 developer event.
