Things are complicated again at OpenAI, which recently created excitement with its ChatGPT-4o artificial intelligence model. The company’s co-founder and chief scientist Ilya Sutskever announced that he decided to leave the company. This important development on the OpenAI blog, was announced via an email sent by co-founder and CEO Sam Altman to the company’s team members. Although it was shared that Sutskever left the company because he had “something personally meaningful to work on,” details were not given.

CEO Altman included the following statements in his message: “This is very sad for me; Ilya is undoubtedly one of the greatest minds of our generation, a guiding light of our field, and a dear friend. His genius and vision are well known; His warmth and compassion are less known but no less important.â€

It was announced that the new chief scientist at OpenAI is Jakub Pachocki. According to the company’s statement, Pachocki was previously appointed as the company’s director of research and helped develop GPT-4.

Altman added the following about Pachocki: “It excites me that he is picking up the flag here. He has led many of our most important projects and has led the way in making rapid and safe progress towards our mission of ensuring AGI benefits everyone. I’m sure you will.â€
