Our standard motherboards use DIMM module type RAM. These RAMs are mounted perpendicular to the slots by being squeezed by the port. However, CAMM2 modules are mounted on the pins on the motherboard, just like a processor assembly.
Since these modules are thinner, motherboard space is saved for other components. Second, CAMM2 modules can provide dual-channel performance equivalent to two DIMMs from a single module.
With the launch of the new CAMM2 module standard, G.SKILL also benefits from the overclocking performance of this new form factor. The company is showcasing its new CAMM2 RAM modules to demonstrate the overclocking ability of the new type of memory module.
