Samsung Electronics CEO JH Han shared his thoughts on the 2024 Bespoke AI series, equipped with brand new artificial intelligence features and connected device experiences. In his article, JH Han talked about the stage that the transformation they started with the Bespoke series in smart home appliances has reached with new artificial intelligence capabilities, and invited users to witness the brand new experiences offered by the Bespoke AI Series. “Fifty years ago, in 1974, Samsung Electronics introduced its first refrigerator, washing machine and air conditioner models to the world. Since then, we’ve continued to push the boundaries of innovation in digital devices. If we go back five years ago, in 2019, Samsung launched its first line of Bespoke home appliances. These products are built to transform users’ daily lives with personalization features and optimized designs. Now, we are determined to usher in a new era in this category with home appliances equipped with the latest artificial intelligence (AI) features and SmartThings connectivity.
Why is security at the core of Bespoke AI home appliances?
A recent study by market research company Ipsos highlights the importance of security in the age of artificial intelligence. In the study titled “Our Life with Artificial Intelligence: Today’s reality and tomorrow’s promise”, a survey was conducted with 17,000 people in 17 countries. One of the key findings was that 42 percent of respondents identified “better security” as a very important application for AI. In addition, 44 percent of respondents see “better security” as somewhat important for AI.
Even though artificial intelligence technology has immense potential, it is important to protect users so that the best artificial intelligence features do not go to waste or even become dangerous. That’s why security is at the heart of Bespoke AI devices. This rating means a very high level of IoT security worldwide.
However, as Samsung, we did not stop there. We continue to work on new technologies that can further increase the security of artificial intelligence devices and smart homes.
Creating social impact with AI-enabled home appliances
At Samsung, we aim to develop devices that go beyond just making life easier. Our goal is to achieve two things with AI-enabled devices: first, to make these devices easily accessible to everyone; The second is to contribute to society by reducing environmental impact.
Samsung’s newest all-in-one washer dryer has a large 7-inch LCD touch screen designed to appeal to users of different levels and offer ease of use. With Bixby integration, it is also possible to control the machine with voice command, thus providing wider accessibility. Additionally, the Auto-Opening Door feature of Samsung’s new Bespoke refrigerator with Family Hub allows users to effortlessly open the refrigerator with a light touch. The new washer-dryer can also automatically open its door when the washing and drying cycle is completed. With all these improvements, we have ensured that our devices are more user-friendly than ever before.
We can explain the social impact of our products as follows: we also use new generation technology to reduce the environmental impact. For example, we are using artificial intelligence to reduce energy use and using more advanced semiconductors to reduce the power consumption and carbon emissions of refrigerators. We are also developing technologies that enable continuous use of air purifiers without the need for regular filter changes.
Bespoke AI home appliances are the pinnacle of AI technology
Our 2024 device series represents the latest point we have reached in artificial intelligence integration. Designed to significantly ease the burden of household chores, these devices use sensors, recognition technology, big data analysis tools, powerful artificial intelligence chips and the Tizen operating system.
Thanks to these features, the way home appliances are used will undergo a radical transformation. The large screens integrated into Family Hub™ refrigerators and the 7-inch screen of Samsung’s newest all-in-one washer dryer enable home devices to be controlled and monitored from these screens. You can also easily control the main functions of the product from your smartphone without having to search for a remote control or deal with buttons. All these possibilities create a revolution in home life.
In addition, we plan to integrate generative artificial intelligence into Bespoke AI home appliances later this year. Generative artificial intelligence will allow users to operate devices by speaking to the device naturally, just like talking to family members. By adding to the SmartThings features and capabilities of AI home appliances, we will integrate over 100 different cross-device connectivity experiences into Samsung home appliances.
