Google says Gemini 1.0 Pro is now available in Android Studio to help developers write better code faster announced. Google states that the application is still in preview and can be used for free for now.

Gemini in Android Studio is a coding assistant built directly into the application. It will help you create application code, provide complex code completions, answer your questions, find relevant resources, add code comments, and more.

With Gemini for Android Studio, Google hopes to allay privacy fears. The company lists the steps it has taken as follows: “Gemini in Android Studio was designed with privacy in mind. Gemini is only available after you log in and activate. You don’t need to ship your code context to take advantage of most features. By default, Gemini’s chat replies in Android Studio are based solely on conversation history, and you decide whether you want to share additional context for customized replies. You can update this at the detailed project level at any time in Android Studio > Settings. We also have a special way for you to disable specific files and folders via the .aiexclude file. “Similar to our work on other AI projects, we adhere to a set of AI principles that hold us accountable.”

By the way, it is now possible to use the Gemini API Starter template in Android Studio Canary by going to File > New Project > Gemini API Starter. Using it, you can start working on applications with built-in generative AI features.
