Apple Postpones Under-Screen Face ID Technology, New Generation iPhones May Arrive Later Than Expected
Face ID on Dynamic Island

Under-screen Face ID technology, which was expected as the next step in Apple’s journey to get rid of notched screens, has apparently been postponed. Sector analyst Ross Young’s According to the information shared, this revolutionary feature will be exclusive to the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max models that will be released in 2026. It seems that users who want to see under-screen Face ID in more affordable models will have to wait until 2027.

Apple had made various efforts to reduce the size of the notch in the Face ID technology previously introduced with the iPhone X. Finally, they started to use a pill-shaped design called “Dynamic Island” instead of a notch in the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models. However, the main goal was to achieve a completely notch-free design by placing the Face ID sensors under the screen.

It looks like Apple needs some more time to perfect this technology. It is thought that under-screen Face ID may negatively affect the performance of the sensors and the image quality of the front camera. Therefore, the company may need to do more R&D work to solve these problems.

It is known that Apple adopted technologies such as 5G and telephoto lens later than its competitors. This indicates that the company takes care to maximize the user experience rather than rushing into new technologies. However, this news may be a bit disappointing for Apple fans waiting for under-screen Face ID technology.
